Mark 1:21-35 Quiet Place, Quiet Heart, Quiet Time
Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out
and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed. Mark 1:35
Jesus rose a long time before daylight and went out to a place where He would be free from distraction and spent time in prayer. He opened His ear each morning to receive instructions for the day from His Father.
On this particular day, Jesus spent his time ministering in Capernaum. During the day He was at the synagogue and in the evening He was at a house and the whole city was bringing to him hurting people, diseased people and ones oppressed by demons. Jesus had a full work schedule and yet He never gave the appearance of being busy, hurried or pressured. He wasn’t frustrated, fatigued or stressed. He was able to lay his head down every night in peace and say, “Father, I finished the work which you gave me.” He was able to do this because He made it His habit, morning by morning, to get instruction from His Father and He was directed day by day as He found a quiet place, had a quiet time with a quite heart.
It is easy for us to be distracted and caught up in the busyness of life. You will never get done what others want you to do and you will never get done what you want to do, but you can get done what the Lord wants you to do.
Like Jesus, we need to start the day in a posture and place of prayer and get our instructions from our Father. We need to get in a quiet place with a quiet heart and have our quiet time. Then, the Lord will direct you, day by day, in a way that is not burdensome but doable. I encourage you to find a quiet place and have a quiet time with a quiet heart and let God direct your day so you will be able to walk in His peace and joy.
