Lately, the news is filled with natural disasters, wars, rumors of wars and a lot of political drama. It seems like our world is crumbling around us and it keeps going from bad to worse. How can our nations be saved and survive?
“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” 2 Chron. 7:14
God says. If you will do your part, then He will do His part. When I read this verse I think of how far our nation is from following God’s instructions and I get discouraged. But as I look at this verse more closely I realize that God isn’t talking to the nations, He is speaking to those who are called by His name. He is speaking to the Christians. I need to put my own name in this scripture; “If Tina who is called by my name. . .”
God tells His people to humble themselves. This is a statement of position. It’s remembering who God is, the all-knowing and all-powerful Creator; and remembering who we are, a sinner saved by His grace. We humble ourselves by admitting our sin.
Next, God tells His people to pray and seek His face. God desires that we come before Him and spend time in His presence. He wants us to seek His face. He wants us to have a personal relationship with Him. He wants us to know his heart.
Lastly God tells us to turn from our wicked ways. He wants us to turn away from our wicked, sinful ways and walk towards Him. He wants us to change oour direction, think differently, turn our heart away from sin and toward Him.
God says, “When you do these things I will hear from heaven, I will forgive your sin and I will heal your land.” Though the entire world around you may crumble, I, the Lord, will honor His word to you.
If you align yourself with the world, then you will reap with them, suffer, and share in their despair. But if you align yourself with the truth of God’s word, then He will give you peace, and see you through the tough times. Your house shall be an oasis in the desert, an ark of safety in a world flooded with crisis.
